Making still films

Watch my kettle boil

The newest feature from flickr lets you upload films of up to 90 seconds. I like the fact it’s restricted in time because it makes you think about what your films should be. There is definitely a film type for flickr that your wouldn’t post to youTube, for example. Places like photojojo have come up with the idea of the long portrait, which I’ll try one day soon, but I like the idea of the still film. Something that would otherwise be a regular photo but has just maybe a single element of movement.
So here for your viewing pleasure is my kettle boiling from blue to red. It’s a smidge over 90 seconds so the end is cut off, but I think it just about reaches temperature in time!
