Should I stay or should I go?

OK, so I battled through another MT upgrade late in to the night. It’s more of a challenge to see if I can still do it! This one seemed a little easier which is a little irriatating seeing as I was considering going over to VOX. I started a little ponder here and was going to leave the install as the decider. But it, if you’re reading this, seemed to work fine and this little corner of the interweb may just have a new lease of life.
I have been considering jacking the blog in, lack of time, lack of interest, technology moving too fast for my little brain, but there is a little nag that says, rebrand, reskin, restart. Hmmm, do I have the time or patience to trawl through another css, to come up with a new design and the rest and the greater part of my small brain says no, why bother. The littler part at the back says, do it!
So that’s where I’m at. Trying other things out, trying this out…

ENTRY 500

Yay me! It’s taken a few years to get to 500 posts but I’ve done it!! Having said that the posts recently have been few and far between. My job is taking up loads of time which is a very good thing. There is lots of interesting stuff to do. I’m working towards one site relaunch which should happen any day now and also the addition of a section on another site. In the mean time I’ve posted this to one of the sites which is really cool. Couldn’t have done it without the help of the team and the company who built it but it’s gone down very well.
I’m sure there are a million things to write but now I really have to get on with work. Does all work and no blogging make me a dull boy?

I’ve not been here for so long I thought for a moment that I had forgotten my password!! At the risk of having a homepage with just one post on it I think I’ll still update my reader about what has been going on.
Work is just mayhem, I’m still learning as I go and making some really stupid mistakes. Having said that I am working with a team of extremely talented people and the first launch of the new site will be live in the next few weeks. Following that is the continued build and launch of the new section of the other site. Just wait and see – it’s all good basic skills stuff!
Meanwhile back at the ranch I’ve been working with Steven on a little project of his. Based on the idea born from the milliondollarhomepage we are launching playmypixel.com. The aim is to showcase the music of new and upcoming bands by offering them pixel space and also offering space to music industry people in the hope that the two will meet in the middle and then who knows!
The pox has now left our house, so it’s back to the sleepless nights for the usual reasons! Once this mad period at work is done I may get back to doing this more regualrly.

AVOID US LIKE THE PLAGUE

At approximately 6.25 last night little red spots started to appear before my eyes. Just to clarify, they were attached to the body of mini me snr. The pox has come to the menace household accompanied by a temperature of 103! I’ve no doubt that it will come in to full bloom in the next few days and be promptly passed to mini me jnr. too. We have put out the offer to the local mini community to come bring your kids round and rub them up against the littl’uns spots. I’m sure we’ll get a few takers but most of her class at school have had chicken pox already. It’s so lovely being a kids innit!

Bring on the calomine lotion :-(

Lazy or busy? Well both actually. Work has ramped up after Xmas. The big site is getting a new section which has been handeed to an external to build. I’ll be the first point of contact between us and them (can’t say who they are yet though!). THis is a big peice of work and will bring me a wealth of experience in the external commissioning process. We’ve also got the next phase of the other site to design and build. The designer started the other day and the CSD starts on monday. As a part this we found out the those who must be obeyed have changed their minds as to the direction of the campaign, which isn’t really a surprise but means that the begining stages of the design will have to be done on the fly until the direction is nailed down. All exciting stuff and enough to keep me busy 5 times over.
The two week break addled my brain as expected but being thrown back into the fire has helped me to adjust back to office life quite quickly. Whilst at home over the holidays I made a list of things to do which I nearly aced. This included building a desk to fit a space in big li’l menace’s room. All made from quality pine effect contiboard it surprsingly fit together with little problem and apart from having to take the thing down and lower it 3 inches it all went swimingly and she loves it!
Ebay threw up a few bargains over the hols too. I got a cheap cartridge for our new printer (which was a bargain in itself!) and a DVD copy of my favourite film which arrived this morning from Korea for a knock down price of £5.00ish including postage!
All that and my lovely kids are keeping me busy and are partly the reason why my posts are few and far between. I have also contemplated knocking the blog on the head for the time being. This seems to be becoming a trend among some of my bloggin contemporaries. Maybe we are too busy or maybe our blogging time has passed for the time being. Who knows only 2006 will tell.

Happy New Year!

Woke up this morning to the news of a massive explosion at a refinery in Hemel Hempstead. Even though we are about 40 miles away from there our whole area is consumed by a stinking fog. There are no warnings to stay indoors here, or to keep the doors and windows shut (although they obviously are!). Police are saying that the fumes are not toxic, but from the reports on the news there are about 3 million gallons of aviation fuel burning up in an enormous plume of smoke that is drifting toward London via here. I certainly don’t want to breath any of that in.
Maybe cybersoc will blog something later as he live right next to Hemel.

Last night I had to review 3 submissions for some big work about to take place on the site. None shorter than about 45 pages it was an education in document writing! So that had me up burning the midnight oil. I had one eye on the documents and the other on an old edition of Most Haunted! At sometime after midnight and after much scribbling with the highlighter I dragged my arse off to bed.
This morning the little person woke at around 5.45 am, which isn’t so bad, yesterday she was up at 2.15am! When I got up to get her I saw that the older menace had already woken and burrowed her way into our bed by stealth. Mrs M hardly noticed her!
I wonder how long I can manage on about four to five hours sleep a night. So far it’s been nearly three months and I’m still plodding along. Even if we go away or farm out the Menaces to grandparents for the night we still manage to wake up at the usual time! Now how do you break that cycle!?
