Smile
Although it’s financially advantagous to travel to work on the old scooter, it means I miss out on the sitting time each way on the train. So I always try to find good reasons to go to work on the met line to catch up on reading and the occasional podcast.
Podcasts are ace, especially for people like me who feel they are still young enough to listen to Xfm but not old enough to tune in to Radio 2! Having said that, in reality I am probably target audience for R2 now. Anyway, I’m losing the point of this thread… podcasts… so I subscribe to a couple of Radio 2 podcasts to ease my self out of my mid 30’s and my selection is Russell Brand and Chris Evans’ weekly catch up. Both of these are extremely funny and at times laugh out loud funny. Most of the time, however, they are at least smile to yourself funny.
If you are a bit of a watcher on the trains you can see the ubiquitous white earpeices all over the underground and I reckon that a fair proportion of them are pumping out similar content to mine. It’s nice, although slight odd, to see groups of people on the trains spontaneously breaking out into smiles and laughter (to themselves) while enjoying a good bit of spoken word humour during their dull journeys under the streets on London. For so long I have been driven to dispair at the look of miserable underground faces I almost want to sing with joy that Messers Brand and Evans et al have brought some well deserved fun, and in some cases almost laughter, to the daily commute.
So here’s to smiling to yourself and not caring what anyone else thinks, because they are probably smiling at the same thing you are 🙂
