Domain registrar wotnot

I have a re-occuring problem. I was recommended a domain registrar a long while ago. A chap based in Brooklyn NY called goregisterdomains.com. I have been with them for a few years since my first entry into domain registration with Name Zero went a bit pear shaped. I managed to transfer all my domains to GRD and added a few more to my portfolio along the way, as well as some that are being used for other people sites.
The problem lies in the fact that over the past year or so there have been a few extended periods where GRD have vanished off the face of the planet. One of those times is now. I really want to register another domain name for little mini m and want to keep all my domain names in the same place but the site seems to be down and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The way I see it, my only option is to transfer all my domain names to a new provider but that will be pricey. Everyone seems to have a bad story about their registrar and tranferal fees are sky high. So what do I do. If anyone out there has a recommendation for a reasonably priced reliable registrar I can transfer a batch of .com addresses to then let me know!
