The music
Since friday I have read several tributes from various sources both professional and non about Robert Palmer. Nearly all described him as a true gentleman. When I read about his death on a pop gossip messageboard, the overwhelming feeling was ‘so what’. I was surprised that some people felt this man was any less valid in his contribution to music than others of his musical generation and that he would be missed any less. As a lover of music as a whole I feel that the loss, at a relatively young age, of any gifted and natural musician is a loss to an industry that wants less and less to do with people like Robert Palmer.
I took the image below at the Hanover Grand back in 1996 I think. A reunion gig of the ‘supergroup’ The Powerstation. As you may expect… it rocked!
